The main components of ferrosilicon are silicon and iron. The silicon content of common ferrosilicon alloys ranges from 15% to 90%. The most commonly used ferrosilicon contains 75% silicon (ferrosilicon 75).

- Density: Ferrosilicon has a density of approximately 5.8-6.5 g/cm³.

- Ferrosilicon has a high electrical resistivity, so it is often used as an electrode material in the metallurgical industry.
