Vanadium-nitrogen alloy is a new type of alloy additive, the following is a detailed introduction to it:
vanadium nitrogen alloy basic concept and characteristics
Vanadium-nitrogen alloy is a billet made of vanadium pentoxide, carbon powder, active agent and other raw materials, under the protection of atmospheric pressure and nitrogen atmosphere, the alloy is generated by high temperature reaction of 1500~1800℃. It has the following characteristics:
Crystal structure: Vanadium nitride has two crystal structures, one is V3N, hexagonal crystal structure, extremely hard, microhardness is about 1900HV, melting point is not measurable; the second is VN, face-centered cubic crystal structure, microhardness is about 1520HV, melting point is 2360℃. They both have high wear resistance.
Physical properties: high density, the specific value varies depending on the crystal structure.

vanadium nitrogen alloy production process
The production process of vanadium and nitrogen alloys mainly includes carbothermal reduction-nitriding method, electric arc furnace method, slag method and so on. Among them, the carbothermal reduction - nitriding method is to carbon powder, vanadium pentoxide as raw materials, by pressing molding, high temperature heating, so that the oxygen in the vanadium pentoxide is replaced by nitrogen, and then produce vanadium and nitrogen alloys. This method is the traditional preparation method of vanadium and nitrogen alloys, and the reaction temperature needs to be strictly controlled to avoid the product surface cracking. In recent years, with the continuous progress of technology, chemical nitriding method, high temperature nitriding method and nitriding reduction method and other efficient production processes have been gradually applied, leading to vanadium and nitrogen alloy production and quality has been improved.
vanadium nitrogen alloy application area and advantages
Application areas: vanadium and nitrogen alloys can be used in structural steel, tool steel, pipeline steel, rebar and cast iron, especially in high-strength low-alloy steel, can be effective vanadium, nitrogen microalloying, promote the precipitation of carbon, vanadium, nitrogen compounds in steel, more effectively play the role of sedimentation strengthening and grain refinement.
Application Advantages:
Improvement of mechanical properties of steel: Adding vanadium nitride to steel can significantly improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of steel such as strength, toughness, ductility and thermal fatigue resistance, and make the steel have good weldability.
Vanadium savings: In achieving the same strength, the addition of vanadium nitride can save 30% to 40% of the vanadium added than conventional ferrovanadium, thus reducing costs.
Reduced fluctuations in properties: Stable vanadium and nitrogen yields help to reduce fluctuations in steel properties.
Convenient to use: vanadium and nitrogen alloys with low loss, using high-strength moisture-proof packaging, can be used directly into the furnace.
