The performance of graphite electrodes
Graphite electrodes have the following performance characteristics:
Higher resistance to thermal shock and chemical stability.
Has lubricity and anti-wear properties.
Easy to process, high metal removal rate during EDM (electric discharge machining), and low graphite loss.
The specific gravity of graphite is 1/5 of that of copper, which means that the weight of graphite with the same volume is relatively lighter than that of copper by a factor of 5. This makes graphite electrodes less burdensome for equipment during long-term use.
Graphite can be processed at very high speeds, generally 3-5 times faster than ordinary metals, and choosing the right cutting tools and graphite can reduce tool wear and electrode loss.
