Manufacture of magnesium ingot
One of the typical methods for producing magnesium is the Pidgeon process. The raw materials required in this method include dolomite ore, fluorite, silica ore, coke, and scrap iron.
In the production process, dolomite ore is calcined in a rotary kiln to form white jade, which is then crushed, then fluorite is crushed, and the mixture of the two is put into the mixing ball.
In addition, silicon ore, coke, and scrap iron are put into an electric arc furnace for reaction and then crushed to form ferrosilicon powder. The mixture with the mixer is put into a pelletizing machine, and then put into the reduction furnace and added with ferrosilicon, phosphorus, etc. Magnesium crystals are formed from pellets of stone through a reduction reaction.
It is then melted and purified to produce metallic magnesium. The production time cycle of this method is about 10 hours. Its process flow is roughly divided into 3 stages, including the preheating period, low vacuum heating period, and high vacuum heating period.
