Products Description
Silicon calcium alloy is mainly composed of silicon and calcium, in which the content of silicon is about 60-65% and the content of calcium is 22-35%. Silicon calcium is a colorless, tasteless and odorless solid, which exists stably at normal temperature and pressure. It has great hardness, which is harder than most metals.
Silicon calcium alloy can be used as a deoxidizer in the steelmaking process. Molten steel contains a certain amount of dissolved oxygen, which will affect the properties of steel if it is not removed in time. Calcium in silicon calcium alloy can react chemically with oxygen in molten steel to generate oxides (such as CaO) insoluble in molten steel, thus achieving the purpose of deoxidation. At the same time, the addition of silicon calcium alloy can also remove harmful impurities such as sulfur and phosphorus in molten steel, and further improve the quality of steel. Silicon calcium alloy can also be used as a purifying agent for molten steel during steelmaking. It can react with nonmetallic inclusions (such as alumina and sulfide) in molten steel to generate compounds that are easy to float and remove, thus purifying molten steel and improving the purity and quality of steel.
In the process of continuous casting, silicon calcium alloy can also be used to prepare continuous casting mold flux. Continuous casting flux is a kind of slag layer covering the surface of molten steel, which can prevent molten steel from being oxidized and polluted by air, and at the same time play the role of lubrication and heat transfer. The addition of silicon calcium alloy can improve the properties of mold flux, such as reducing its melting point and improving its stability, to improve the smoothness of the continuous casting process and the quality of the billet. In a word, calcium silicate is widely used in metallurgy.
