Molybdenum Sheet is a thin plate or sheet made of molybdenum material with physical and chemical properties similar to those of molybdenum foil, but usually of greater thickness and with slightly different applications.
Molybdenum Sheet features
- High melting point: Molybdenum has a melting point of up to 2620°C, so molybdenum flakes are able to maintain their physical stability in high-temperature environments.
- High strength: Molybdenum flakes have high strength, especially at high temperatures, and are able to withstand large mechanical stresses and loads.
- Low thermal expansion: Molybdenum has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, so molybdenum flakes are dimensionally stable and not easily deformed during temperature changes.
- Excellent electrical and thermal conductivity: Molybdenum flakes have good electrical and thermal conductivity, which makes them suitable for electrical and electronic devices that require heat dissipation.
- Corrosion resistance: Molybdenum has good chemical resistance and performs particularly well in acidic and alkaline environments.
- Processability: Molybdenum sheets can be processed in a variety of ways, including cutting, drilling, stamping and welding, to suit different manufacturing needs.
Molybdenum sheet application
- Electronics industry: Molybdenum flakes play a role in the encapsulation of electronic components, especially in power semiconductors, transistors and heat sinks for thermal conductivity and electrical connections.
- Vacuum equipment: Molybdenum flakes are widely used in high-temperature vacuum equipment, such as vacuum furnaces and evaporation boats, because they maintain their physical stability at high temperatures and do not volatilise.
- Aerospace: Molybdenum flakes are commonly used in structural and thermal insulation components for spacecraft and high-temperature applications because of their ability to maintain strength and stability in extreme environments.
- Nuclear industry: Molybdenum flakes' resistance to high temperatures and corrosion makes it an ideal material for use in nuclear reactors, in equipment such as nuclear fuel rods and control rods.
- Medical equipment: Molybdenum flakes are used as heat sinks or shielding materials in certain medical imaging equipment (e.g. X-ray machines) due to their high biocompatibility.
Molybdenum flakes are thicker compared to molybdenum foils and are therefore used more often in applications requiring high strength and structural support, while maintaining the high-temperature resistance and chemical stability of molybdenum materials.
