It has high chemical activity and is easily oxidized in the air at room temperature to form a dense oxide film (MnO₂), which can delay further corrosion. In an acidic or strongly oxidizing environment, electrolytic manganese will react quickly to release hydrogen or generate manganese salts. In addition, its resistivity is low (about 1.6μΩ·m), making it suitable as a conductive additive. These characteristics make it an ideal material for alloy manufacturing, the electronics industry, and new energy fields.

 

The largest application area of ​​electrolytic manganese flakes is stainless steel production. As a deoxidizer and alloying element (accounting for about 60%), it can improve the strength and corrosion resistance of steel. Secondly, adding 1–2% electrolytic manganese to aluminum alloys can significantly improve their mechanical properties. In recent years, the demand for new energy industry has surged: manganese is a key component of lithium-ion battery positive electrode materials (such as nickel-cobalt-manganese ternary materials), which can improve battery energy density and cycle life.
