Ferrosilicon in Ferroalloy Optimization
Adding a certain amount of ferrosilicon particles to steel can improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of the steel, increase the magnetic permeability of the steel, and reduce the hysteresis loss of transformer steel. FeSi is critical in producing complex ferroalloys like ferrosilicon magnesium (FeSiMg) for ductile iron. Our FeSiMg8 (8% Mg, 45% Si) enables 95% magnesium yield vs. traditional 70%, reducing nodularizing agent costs.
Real-time XRF analysis ensures ±0.3% composition accuracy. Batch-specific heat maps track cooling rates to prevent internal cracking. Not only is the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen very high, but high-silicon ferrosilicon has a very low carbon content. Therefore, high-silicon ferrosilicon (or silicon alloy) is a commonly used reducing agent in the ferroalloy industry when producing low-carbon ferroalloys.
