Most of the deoxidation and alloy additions in the steelmaking production process are in the form of ferroalloys. Ferrous alloys are generally very brittle and cannot be used as metallic materials.

Products Description

 Ferro Alloy, in a broad sense, refers to a product that is added to molten iron as a deoxidizer, elemental additive, etc. during steelmaking to give steel certain characteristics or meet certain requirements. An intermediate alloy composed of iron and one or several elements, mainly used in steel smelting. In the steel industry, all intermediate alloys used in steelmaking, whether containing iron or not (such as silicon calcium alloys), are generally referred to as "ferroalloys". Traditionally, certain pure metal additives and oxide additives are also included.

Basic classification

They are generally classified according to the following methods:
(1) According to the main elements in iron alloys, there are mainly silicon, manganese, chromium, vanadium, titanium, tungsten, molybdenum and other series of iron alloys.
(2) According to the classification of carbon content in ferroalloys, there are high carbon, medium carbon, low carbon, micro carbon, ultra-micro carbon and other varieties.
(3) Multi-component iron alloys containing two or more alloying elements. The main varieties are silicon-aluminum alloys, silicon-calcium alloys, manganese-silicon-aluminum alloys, silicon-calcium aluminum alloys, silicon-barium-calcium alloys, etc.
(4) Classified by production method: blast furnace ferroalloys, electric furnace ferroalloys, outside-furnace ferroalloys (metal thermal process) ferroalloys, vacuum solid-state reduced ferroalloys, electrolytic ferroalloys, in addition to special ferroalloys such as oxide briquettes and heating ferroalloys.

Use of Products

1. Deoxidizer. During the steelmaking process, oxygen is removed from the molten steel, and some ferroalloys can also remove 2. other impurities in the steel such as sulfur, nitrogen, etc.
3. Alloy additives. According to the steel composition requirements, alloying elements are added to the steel to improve the properties of the steel.
4. Inoculants. Add it to molten iron before casting to improve the crystal structure of the casting.
5. Reducing agent, reducing agent for producing other ferrous alloys and non-ferrous metals by metal thermal reduction method; alloy additives for non-ferrous alloys; also used in small amounts in the chemical industry and other industries.
6. Steel, all steel is a type of iron alloy, which also makes iron alloy the most widely used and the largest alloy.
