Ferrosilicon smelting process

1. Prepare raw materials: The main raw materials for ferrosilicon smelting are silica, reducing agent and steel scraps. Silica is mainly bonded quartz particles, metallurgical coke is used as a reducing agent, and steel scraps are used for composition adjustment.
2. Crushing and screening: The raw materials are crushed and screened to obtain undersize and oversize materials less than 0.08mm. The undersize materials are placed in a multi-layer roasting furnace for pre-baking, and the oversize materials are placed in a rotary kiln heated by coal gas and heated to about 700℃ to remove moisture and preheat the ore.
3. Batching and charging: The preheated hot materials are loaded into the electric furnace from the front silo of the furnace, and the reducing agent and other necessary ingredients are added at the same time.
4. Smelting: Smelting is carried out in an electric furnace, and carbon is used as a reducing agent to reduce silicon dioxide. The intermediate products silicon carbide and carbon monoxide play an important role. When iron is present, the two react to form ferrosilicon. This process is carried out continuously in the reduction furnace.
5. Refining and processing: After smelting, it is refined and processed to obtain ferrosilicon with qualified chemical composition.
