Traditional ferrosilicon production process
The traditional ferrosilicon production process is based on blast furnace smelting technology. Generally speaking, the ferrosilicon production process includes the following steps: Raw material preparation: The main raw materials are high-purity silica and iron ore. These raw materials are crushed, ground and screened to obtain raw materials with moderate particle size. Batching and sintering: Silica and iron ore are mixed and batched in a certain proportion, and a certain amount of coke is added as a reducing agent. Then the batch is placed in a high-temperature furnace for hot sintering to solidify the raw materials into blocks.
Loading the charge into the furnace: The sintered charge is loaded into the blast furnace. The blast furnace is generally cylindrical and lined with refractory bricks. The charge is loaded into the furnace through the top, and the tuyere and slag outlet are set at the bottom. Ignition of the furnace fire: When the charge is loaded into the furnace, the coke on the top of the charge is ignited by a match to make it burn, and the heat generated by the combustion makes the furnace reach a high temperature state. Reduction reaction: At high temperature, coke reacts with the oxides in the charge to reduce the oxides to metals. Among them, the silicon dioxide in the silica is reduced to silicon dioxide and metallic silicon. Melting and collection: The reduced metallic silicon and iron ore melt to form liquid at the bottom of the furnace. The liquid metal flows out through the iron outlet at the bottom, and after cooling and solidification, ferrosilicon is obtained.
