Deoxidizing 75 Ferrosilicon Description
Ferro Silicon 75# is used as an inoculant and nodularizer in the cast iron industry. Cast iron is an important metal material in modern industry. It is cheaper than steel, easy to melt and smelt, and has excellent casting properties and much better shock resistance than steel. Especially ductile iron, its mechanical properties are equal to or close to those of steel.
Adding a certain amount of Ferro Silicon 75% to cast iron can prevent the formation of carbide in iron, and promote the precipitation and nodularization of graphite, so Ferro Silicon 75# is an important inoculant (to help precipitate graphite) and nodularizer in the production of ductile iron.
Ferro Silicon 75# is used as a reducing agent in the production of ferroalloys. Not only is the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen great but also the carbon content of high Ferro Silicon 75% is very low. Therefore, high silicon silicon iron (or siliceous alloy) is a commonly used reducing agent in the production of low-carbon ferroalloys in the ferroalloy industry.
Silicon iron 75# is often used in the high-temperature smelting process of metal magnesium in the Pidgeon process, to replace magnesium in CaO and MgO. About 1.2 tons of Ferro Silicon 75% is consumed for every ton of metal magnesium produced, and Ferro Silicon 75# plays a great role in the production of metal magnesium.
