Ferro silicon 65 are mainly used asalloying agents, to eliminate excess oxygen and sulfur in molten steel, and to improve the quality and performance of steel. In steelmaking, the molten iron is decarburized and harmful impurities such as phosphorus and sulfur are removed by means of oxygen blowing, which will increase the oxygen content in the molten steel, and too high oxygen content will reduce the mechanical properties of the steel. Add some elements that are stronger than iron in oxygen binding, and their oxides are easy to be discharged from the molten steel in the form of slag, and the oxygen in the molten steel is removed, this process is called deoxidation. Silicon, manganese, and chromium-based alloys all have this use.
