introduction of ferrosilicon
Ferrosilicon is a ferroalloy composed of iron and silicon. Ferrosilicon is an iron-silicon alloy made of coke, steel scraps, and should-shied (or silica), which is smelted in an electric furnace. Because silicon and oxygen are easy to synthesize silica, ferrosilicon is often used as a deoxidizer in steelmaking, and because SiO2 releases a large amount of heat when it is generated, it is also beneficial to increase the temperature of molten steel while deoxidizing. At the same time, ferrosilicon can also be used as an additive for alloying elements, which is widely used in low-alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel and electrical silicon steel. Ferrosilicon is commonly used as a reducing agent in the production of ferroalloys and in the chemical industry.

application of ferro silicon
First, it is used as an oxygen absorber. Molten iron is decarburized and harmful impurities such as phosphorus and sulfur are removed by blowing oxygen or adding oxidants. In the process of making pig iron into steel, the oxygen content in the molten steel gradually increases, and this form is present in the molten FeO steel. If the oxygen in the steel is not removed, the mechanical properties of the cast billet are not good.
Alloying elements can also be used as alloying elements, which not only reduce the impurity content in the steel, but also adjust the chemical composition of the steel. Commonly used alloying elements are silicon, manganese, chromium, molybdenum, vanadium, titanium, tungsten, cobalt, boron, niobium, etc. Steel grades contain different alloying elements and alloy contents, and have different characteristics and uses.
Silicon significantly improves the elasticity and magnetic permeability of steel. Manganese can reduce the brittleness of steel, improve the hot working properties of steel, and improve the strength, hardness and wear resistance of steel. Manganese is an indispensable functional basic raw material for the production of steel, by improving the strength, hardness, wear resistance and other properties, in the steelmaking process can remove sulfur, oxygen and other impurities, improve the physical properties of steel. At present, there is no other element that can replace the role of manganese in the steel production process.

Why does ferrosilicon have chalking?
Improper content of aluminum, phosphorus and calcium in ferrosilicon will contribute to the pulverization of ferrosilicon. When the aluminum and phosphorus content increases to a certain value at the same time, this ferrosilicon is easily pulverized in air with high humidity. Some data point out that the phosphorus content in ferrosilicon is less than 0.04. %, the aluminum content is less than 3%, and the chalking phenomenon is not easy to occur. Observe and study the phenomenon of ferrosilicon pulverization due to silicon content, and preliminarily believe that ferrosilicon has low silicon content (mostly waste products) and is often easy to pulverize.
