Ferrotitanium is a kind of intermediate alloy. It can be divided into three types according to the titanium content: low ferro-titanium with a titanium content of 25% to 35%, medium ferro-titanium with a titanium content of 35% to 45%, and high ferro-titanium with a titanium content of 65% to 75%. Ferro-titanium alloy has the functions of improving crystal structure, increasing the strength of steel, and fixing interstitial element hydrogen storage.

Remelting is the main method for preparing high-titanium ferroalloy at present. It uses waste titanium or sponge titanium as raw materials and remelts iron, mainly using induction furnaces and electric furnaces. The process technology is feasible with the use of appropriate amounts of deoxidizers and alkaline quaternary slag, and the obtained high-titanium ferroalloy products have stable chemical composition and low impurity content, but its cost is too high and is greatly affected by market prices.
