Ferro Vanadium Basis 78% V Min

Ferro Vanadium Basis 78% V Min

Ferro vanadium, also known as ferrovanadium alloy, is a kind of ferroalloy. It can be produced by reducing vanadium pentoxide with carbon in an electric furnace, and can also be produced by reducing vanadium pentoxide by electric furnace silicon thermal method. Ferro vanadium is widely used as an alloying additive for smelting vanadium-containing alloy steel and alloy cast iron and is also used to manufacture permanent magnets.

Description

Ferrovanadium is an alloy consisting of vanadium and iron, where the vanadium mass fraction usually ranges from 35% to 85%. Ferrovanadium is widely used in the steel industry due to its ability to significantly improve the properties of steel.

Ferro Vanadium application

- Alloy Steels: Ferrovanadium is mainly used in the production of high strength low alloy steels (HSLA steels) which are widely used in construction, bridge, pipe and vehicle manufacture. The addition of vanadium improves the strength, toughness and wear resistance of the steel.

- Tool Steels: In the production of tool steels, ferrovanadium is used to increase the hardness and wear resistance of the steel, making it suitable for the manufacture of high strength tools such as knives, drills and molds.

- Stainless Steels* Ferro Vanadium is also used in the production of stainless steels, where the addition of vanadium enhances the steel's corrosion and abrasion resistance, enabling it to perform well in harsh environments.

- High Temperature Alloys: Ferro Vanadium is used in the manufacture of high temperature alloys which maintain excellent mechanical properties at extreme temperatures and are widely used in the aerospace, energy and chemical industries.

Ferro Vanadium features

- Improves strength and toughness: Vanadium combines with carbon to produce vanadium carbide, which can refine the grain structure of steel and significantly improve its strength and toughness.

- Enhanced Wear Resistance: The vanadium element in ferrovanadium improves the wear resistance of the steel, making it suitable for use in high wear environments.

- Corrosion resistance: The addition of vanadium contributes to the corrosion resistance of steel, particularly important in steels used in the chemical industry and marine environments.

Ferro Vanadium Process

Ferrovanadium is usually produced by electric arc furnaces or other smelting processes. The smelting process uses vanadium ores and iron ores as raw materials, which undergo a reduction reaction at high temperatures to produce a vanadium-iron alloy.
