Ferrovanadium  is an important alloy product containing vanadium, which is typically used as a furnace ingredient in steel metallurgy processes. It is common to use ferrovanadium with either 40%, 60%, or 80% V, where the uncertainty in the vanadium content needs to be small, and the C, S, and P contents are strictly limited. The producers can select the other ingredients depending on the requirements of the user. Ferrovanadium production methods mainly include the electro-silicon thermal process, aluminum thermal process, and direct alloying of vanadium slag. The silicon thermal method can produce medium-grade ferrovanadium and ferrosilicon–vanadium alloys, while the aluminum thermal process can produce high-quality ferrovanadium alloy. The aluminum thermal process and electric aluminum thermal process were developed to address the needs of safe operation. Direct alloying of vanadium slag can omit the step of extracting vanadium from vanadium slag, which can result in cost savings, although the product quality is low as C, Si, S, P, and Cr impurities remain. In general, the vanadium content in ferrovanadium is above 40%, and the material has a melting point of 1480°C, solid density of 7.0 t/m³, bulk density of 3.3–3.9 t/m³, and used blocksize of <200.
