Ferrovanadium (FeV) is an alloy used as a strengthening additive in the production of certain steels. This metal combines iron alloy with a varying level of vanadium. Manufacturers use an electric-arc furnace to melt the two elements into one. There are two common grades of ferrovanadium with content levels ranging from 45-55% vanadium to 78-82% vanadium.
Ferrovanadium has numerous applications related to steel due to its high strength and versatility. This alloy is a universal hardener and strengthener with corrosion-resistant properties. It also improves the tensile strength and overall quality of various steel components.
