Amphoteric oxide, but mainly acidic. It volatilizes significantly above 700℃. It decomposes into oxygen and vanadium tetroxide at 700~1125℃, which makes it a catalyst for many organic and inorganic reactions. It is a strong oxidant and can be easily reduced to various low-valent oxides. Slightly soluble in water, easy to form a stable colloidal solution. Very soluble in alkali, vanadate (VO3) can be generated under weak alkaline conditions. Dissolved in strong acid (generally soluble at pH = 2) does not generate vanadate ions, but generates oxyvanadium ions (VO2) of the same valence. It is a toxic substance, and the maximum allowable amount in the air is less than 0.5 mg/m.
