It is slightly soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol, but soluble in strong acids and strong bases. It is an amphoteric oxide, but mainly acidic.

The modern "three-step" vanadium pentoxide tablet production process is to decompose the drying and dehydration, calcination and deammoniation, and melting and casting of the traditional one-step production process into three different process equipment. Then, the hot air produced by the combustion of the calcination hot blast furnace is directly calcined in the calcination furnace to remove the ammonia to generate powdered vanadium pentoxide. Finally, the powdered vanadium pentoxide is sent to the discharge port of the melting furnace by a screw conveyor. The vanadium powder is heated and melted in the melting furnace during the falling and accumulation process. The molten vanadium pentoxide liquid enters the water-cooled disc casting machine through the liquid outlet chute to cast the flake vanadium pentoxide.

It can be used as an alloy additive to improve the strength, toughness and corrosion resistance of steel.
