What are the characteristics of tungsten wire?

Dimensions and tolerances
Tungsten wire tolerances and tungsten wire dimensions, such as tungsten wire diameter, are usually expressed in millimeters (or inches). For filaments with diameters from 0.02mm to 0.5mm, the diameter of tungsten wire is measured by weight per unit length. That is, the weight of tungsten wire with a length of 200mm, expressed in mg.
Standard diameter tolerance is 3% of weight measurement. Depending on the application of the tungsten wire product, tighter tolerances may be provided.
For thicker tungsten wire diameters from 0.5 mm to 6.5 mm, use millimeter measurements. Tolerances are expressed as a percentage of diameter. Standard tolerance is 1.5%.tensile strength
The tensile strength of tungsten wire is usually expressed in grams per milligram of weight (200mm) (or) g/mg/200mm. The normal range is 40 to 110 grams. Generally speaking, as tensile strength increases, the straightness of the wire decreases.
Straightness Tungsten wire can be straightened by mechanical or heat treatment processes. Typically, tungsten wire straightness is measured by cutting a ten-inch length of tungsten wire and placing it on a flat, clean surface. The maximum deviation of a straight line along its length is a quantitative measure of its straightness. Generally speaking, as straightness increases, tensile strength decreases.
Cracks Longitudinal cracks whose depth exceeds 15% of the tungsten wire diameter are called cracks. Use an eddy current split detector to check whether the tungsten wire is split. The level of fragmentation for a given length of tungsten wire is typically less than 5%.
Quality and Finish Tungsten wire is free of scratches, kinks, and twists that would be detrimental to the product's intended end use. The surface finish is black and is available in the drawing condition with the drawing lubricant and oxides retained on the surface, or in the clean condition of firing in hydrogen or electrochemical etching.
