Magnesium alloy has low density, high specific strength and good castability, and is widely used in aviation, aerospace and automobile industries. However, the poor corrosion resistance of magnesium alloys limits their further application to a large extent, and improving the corrosion resistance through surface engineering is one of the hot spots in the current research of magnesium alloys. Compared with common chemical conversion, anodising, micro-arc oxidation, vapour deposition, etc., organic coatings have low cost, simple process, good corrosion resistance and adaptability. The results show that the cathodic polarisation of AZ91D magnesium alloy can be nearly 100mV, and the life of the epoxy magnesium-rich coating under immersion condition is more than 2 times longer than that of the epoxy varnish coating. However, the activity of pure magnesium powder is high, and the magnesium-rich coating has a protective effect on the cathodic of magnesium alloy.
