Calcined Petroleum Coke (CPC) is the product of petroleum coke after calcination treatment. Petroleum coke is a by-product separated from petroleum fractions in the crude oil refining process. Untreated petroleum coke contains high moisture and volatiles, so by calcining at high temperatures (usually between 1,200°C and 1,350°C), volatiles, moisture, and some impurities can be removed, and its carbon content and stability can be improved.

1. High Carbon Content: after calcination, the carbon content of calcined petroleum coke is usually around 97% to 99%, with very high purity.


2. Low volatile matter: During the calcination process, the volatile matter in the petroleum coke is removed, forming a stable carbon structure.


3. Low Sulfur and Low Metal Impurities: After treatment, the sulfur content of calcined petroleum coke is significantly reduced, while the metal impurities (such as iron, calcium, etc.) in it are reduced.


4. High Electrical Conductivity: The electrical conductivity of calcined petroleum coke is superior to that of uncalcined petroleum coke due to its denser and more regular carbon structure.


5. High mechanical strength and abrasion resistance: Calcined petroleum coke has high strength and abrasion resistance, making it suitable for use in highly stressed industrial applications.

1. ALUMINUM INDUSTRY: Calcined petroleum coke is the main material for carbon anodes in the production of electrolytic aluminum. Anodes used in aluminum electrolysis tanks are usually made of calcined petroleum coke, which provides good electrical conductivity and thermal stability and helps to improve electrolysis efficiency.


2. Steelmaking Industry: As a carbon enhancer, calcined petroleum coke is used in electric arc furnace steelmaking and casting process, which can increase the carbon content in steel and improve the strength and hardness of steel.


3. Titanium dioxide production: Calcined petroleum coke is used in the production of titanium dioxide by the chlorination method, where it participates in the reaction as a carbon source to help generate titanium chloride.


4. Electrode Production: It is used in the manufacture of electrodes, especially in high-temperature electric arc furnaces as a material for graphite electrodes, with good conductivity and durability.


5. Production of other carbon-based materials: Calcined petroleum coke can be used as a raw material for the manufacture of other carbon-based materials, such as carbon black and graphite products.
