Product Description of metal silicon
Silicon is a chemical element; it has the symbol Si and atomic number 14. It is a hard, brittle crystalline solid with a blue-grey metallic luster, and is a nonmetal and semiconductor. Silicon is the eighth most common element in the universe by mass, but it rarely occurs as the pure element in the Earth's crust.
In China, metal silicon is usually classified according to the content of its three main impurities: iron, aluminum, and calcium. According to the percentage content of iron, aluminum, and calcium in metallic silicon, metallic silicon can be divided into different grades such as 1501.

Like carbon, silicon is relatively inactive at ordinary temperatures; however, when heated it reacts vigorously with the halogens (fluorine, chlorine, bromine, and iodine) to form halides and with certain metals to form silicides.
