Silicon-Calcium Alloy (Silicon-Calcium) is a ferrous alloy consisting of silicon (Si) and calcium (Ca) as the main components, usually used in the steel and foundry industries. It is an important deoxidizer and desulfurizer, and plays an important role in the production of high-performance steel and castings.

- Chemical composition:
- Silicon (Si) content : 55%~65
- Calcium (Ca) content: 23% ~ 30
- Other elements: including a small amount of iron (Fe) and impurities such as aluminum, carbon and so on.
- Appearance: silver-gray or off-white lumps or granules, the surface may have a metallic luster.
- Melting point: low, about between 1250 ℃ ~ 1350 ℃, conducive to dissolution in steel.

Calcium silicate is usually prepared by carbothermal reduction method, the main raw materials are silica, lime and coke:
1. Raw material preparation: mix silica and lime in proportion.
2. High-temperature reduction: Silica-calcium alloy is generated by coke reduction at high temperature in an electric furnace.
3. Casting Block Cooling: the alloy liquid is cooled to form a block product.

1. Iron and steel industry.
- Deoxidizer:
- Silicon and calcium work together to effectively remove oxygen from the liquid steel and prevent inclusions in the steel.
- It is suitable for the production of high-quality steel, high-strength steel and special steel.
- Desulfurizer:
- Calcium is able to react with sulfur to form low-density calcium sulfide (CaS), which is easy to remove by upward flotation.
- It improves the purity of steel and its mechanical properties.
2. Foundry industry
- Improve casting properties:
- Calcium silicate promotes graphitization and improves the toughness and strength of cast iron.
- Reduces porosity and crack defects in castings.
3. Nonferrous metal smelting
- Used as a reducing agent or alloy additive, e.g. in magnesium and aluminum production to optimize product properties.
4. Other uses
- Used as a catalyst carrier in the chemical industry or in the production of special silicon-based materials.
