Ferrophosphorus FeP16 solid
Generally, the application of iron phosphorus is mainly in steelmaking and casting. In steelmaking, iron phosphorus is always used as an additive to phosphorus. For most steel types, phosphorus is a harmful impurity, but adding phosphorus to some steel types is harmful to the steel. In other words, corrosion resistance can be improved.
When using phosphorus-containing steel plates, adhesion can be prevented. When producing rolls, adding 0.4% to 0.5% phosphorus can improve fluidity and avoid surface cracks.
When producing high-phosphorus wear-resistant cast iron, phosphorus forms a uniform binary phosphorus eutectic structure in the casting and is distributed in a network. Due to the high hardness of phosphorus eutectic, truck brake pads containing 0.7% to 1% phosphorus can improve wear resistance. What's more, phosphorus can also improve and change the cutting properties of steel.
The main raw material containing phosphorus is apatite. my country is rich in phosphate sources and is distributed in almost every province in the country.
The application of phosphorus iron in casting can improve the fluidity of cast iron, thereby improving the quality of castings. Currently, ferrophosphate is mostly used in the foundry industry.
There are two ways to produce iron phosphorus, one mainly produces iron phosphorus with phosphorus as a by-product, the other mainly produces yellow phosphorus with iron phosphorus as a by-product. The production of iron phosphorus is in the first way in China.
In order to make the smelting process proceed smoothly, in addition to apatite, coke, and scrap steel, an appropriate amount of silica needs to be added to the charge. The smelting uses a closed furnace and is equipped with phosphorus recovery and phosphoric acid production equipment. Since the consumption of iron phosphorus is not large, small and medium-sized electric furnaces are generally used.
