Products Description
The CaFe cored wire consists of an outer steel strip and an inner core of calcium-iron alloy powder. This structural design ensures the stability of the alloying elements during transportation and their effective release in the molten steel. Calcium, as a strong deoxidizer and desulfurizer, can significantly improve the purity of molten steel; while iron, as a carrier, ensures the stable addition of calcium and avoids the operational difficulties caused by the excessive activity of pure calcium. The diameter of the cored wire is usually between 5-15mm and can be adjusted according to different smelting requirements.

From the perspective of chemical composition, the calcium content in the CaFe cored wire is generally between 30%-60%, and the rest is mainly iron and a small amount of other alloying elements. This ratio takes into account both the treatment effect of calcium and the economy and safety of the product. The steel strip shell of the cored wire is usually made of low-carbon steel to ensure that it can melt quickly in the molten steel without polluting the steel.

The production of CaFe cored wire mainly includes three main links: alloy powder preparation, steel strip forming and filling and wrapping. First, calcium and iron need to be smelted into alloys in proportion, and then crushed to a suitable particle size. This process needs to be carried out under the protection of inert gas to prevent calcium oxidation. The steel strip is precision rolled to the required thickness and width, and the surface needs to be kept clean to ensure the quality of subsequent wrapping. Filling and wrapping is a key process in production. The alloy powder is continuously and evenly filled into the U-shaped steel strip through special equipment, and then closed and wrapped into wire. The tightness of the wrapping directly affects the product quality. Too loose will cause powder leakage, and too tight may affect the melting performance of the steel strip in molten steel. Finally, the cored wire is straightened, cut to size, and then coiled and packaged. The entire production process requires strict control of environmental humidity and temperature.

In specific applications, CaFe cored wire is mainly used for deoxidation, desulfurization and inclusion morphology control. Calcium has a strong affinity with oxygen and sulfur, and can form high melting point compounds to float and be removed from molten steel. At the same time, calcium can also change the morphology of inclusions such as Al2O3 from chain to spherical, significantly improving the mechanical properties of steel, especially transverse impact toughness and fatigue resistance.
