Approved Quality Best Metal Ferrosilicon

The silicon thermal method uses FeSi75 ferrosilicon as a reducing agent, and its physical properties will seriously affect the reduction process. According to the reaction mechanism of the silicon thermal method, magnesium is obtained by reducing magnesium oxide with silicon in FeSi75 ferrosilicon. Silicon will naturally oxidize in the air, and the humidity of the air, the oxygen content in the water vapor, the temperature and the surface state of silicon will affect the oxidation.

The silicon thermal method is used to produce magnesium metal. The calcined dolomite, FeSi75 ferrosilicon (reducing agent) and fluorite (additive) are ground into powder, mixed in a certain ratio (generally 80:17:3) and pressed into pellets, and then loaded into a reduction tank made of heat-resistant steel. Under the conditions of 1432~1473K temperature and 1.33~13.33Pa vacuum, magnesium vapor is obtained, condensed and crystallized into crude magnesium, and then melted, refined and cast into magnesium ingots. The reaction mechanism of magnesium smelting by silicon thermal method can be expressed as follows: 2(CaO·MgO)(s)+Si(s)=2Mg(g)+2Ca0·Si0,(s), where the consumption of ferrosilicon as a reducing agent accounts for 50%~60% of the total cost.
