Ferro Silicon Nitride For Steelmaking

The composition, structure and properties of silicon nitride iron are different, and the synthesis methods used are different. For example, the silicon nitride iron synthesized by flash combustion process consists of β-Si3N4, α-Si3N4, Fe3Si and a small amount of SiO2. There are a large number of columnar silicon nitride crystals with a relatively high aspect ratio in the structure. FegSi is located inside the material wrapped by the columnar crystals, forming an inclusion structure, and the structure is loose and active; while the silicon nitride iron synthesized by self-propagating high temperature is composed of β-Si3N4, α-Si3N4, Fe3Si and Si2N2O. The microstructure is a dense silicon nitride block, and the surface of the block is covered with an oxygen silicon nitride film. There are fine crystalline silicon nitride crystals in the gaps of the block, and the iron-containing components are embedded in the dense block, and the structure is dense and stable.

Fe-Si3N4 contains a high-temperature silicon nitride phase and has excellent high-temperature performance. It also contains a plastic Fe phase, which can promote sintering and improve the oxidation resistance of Si3N4. Fe-Si3N4 powder is mostly used as an additive in refractory materials. The particle size of the ferrosilicon nitride powder generally used is ≤0.074mm, and a few require the particle size of the ferrosilicon nitride powder to be ≤0.045mm.
