Ferrosilicon nitride uses
Powdered ferrosilicon nitride is mainly used as plugging mud for large blast furnaces, and a small amount is used for iron trough materials or other amorphous refractory materials.
Granular ferrosilicon nitride is mainly used for oriented silicon steel or other steels with nitriding strength (such as HRB400 rebar).
Ferrosilicon nitride is also an additive for the production of cold-rolled unidirectional silicon steel sheets. After adding metal melt, the product can obtain good high-temperature and low-temperature strength, good corrosion resistance, thermal shock, and wear resistance.
Ferrosilicon nitride is a new type of high-quality refractory material that can be used in waterless sludge of large blast furnaces instead of the more expensive silicon nitride. It has the characteristics of good opening, assisted sintering, corrosion resistance, and low cost.
Preparation of ferrosilicon nitride
The preparation of ferrosilicon nitride typically involves synthesizing it from ferrosilicon alloys or single atoms of silicon using nitriding techniques at high temperatures. During the synthesis process, two main factors significantly affect synthesis efficiency:
Ferrosilicon particle size: the relationship between the nitrogen content of products with different particle sizes and reaction temperature.
The finer the ferrosilicon particles, the smaller the porosity in the sample and the larger the specific surface area, resulting in faster and more intense reactions. However, severe sintering between ferrosilicon particles will hinder nitrogen diffusion and thus hurt the nitriding effect.
Coarse-grained samples exhibit smaller specific surface areas, resulting in a more stable nitriding reaction. As the temperature increases, nitriding becomes more effective.
Nitriding Temperature: Compared to low-temperature nitriding, high-temperature nitriding gives more complete results.
