High Quality Ferro Silicon 72% Ferro Silicon Steelmaking
When FeSi is used for initial deoxidization in the furnace, it must be done with caution as Si can reduce P2O5 (phosphorus pentoxide) in the slag. If the phosphorus (P) content in the slag is high and the slag is not rinsed, the slag may still be insufficiently alkaline after adding Fe-Si.
These conditions may cause P to recirculate in the furnace, especially when the slag is hot, and when the C content exceeds 0.15%, and the results of the molten pool analysis exceed approximately 0.10% Si and 0.40% Mn.
FeSi is mainly used in steelmaking and foundries for the production of C steel, stainless steel as a deoxidizer, and for alloying steel and cast iron. It is used as a reducing agent, especially in the production of stainless steel. As a reducing agent, Si reacts with chromium (Cr) oxide to form Si oxide, returning Cr to the molten steel, thereby increasing the overall recovery rate of Cr in the process.
