Ferrosilicon For Enhanced Steel Production

Japan, the United States, Norway and other countries ferrosilicon production process use silica + metallurgical coke (+ petroleum coke + charcoal + coal, etc.) + steel scraps (or iron ore) to reduce in a submerged arc furnace. Some countries also use multi-component slag absorption to remove some impurities outside the furnace, which is a complicated process. The traditional batching method is silica: coke: steel scraps = 100: (48-56): 26. Silica containing 97% SiO₂ can be used. The coke particle size is 5-18mm, and the steel scraps are ordinary carbon steel scraps. Its disadvantages are high metallurgical coke ash content. Ordinary steel scraps generally contain 0.4-1.4% Mn, and the Cr, Ti, and V contents are also high, making it difficult to ensure the quality of ferrosilicon. The coke particle size is large, the surface area is small, and the reduction reaction time is long.
