Introduction to high carbon FeSi
Carbon silicon alloy is a new type of alloy that can replace Iron Silicon, silicon carbide, and carburizer, and is used in the deoxidation alloying process of converter smelting.
High carbon Iron Silicon Alloy: At the end of converter steelmaking, too much oxygen is dissolved in the molten steel, which precipitates during the solidification process to form oxide inclusions and bubbles. The generated oxide inclusions are retained in the steel, which will reduce the mechanical properties of the steel such as plasticity and impact toughness. Excessive oxygen content in steel will also produce defects such as bubbles and subcutaneous looseness, aggravating the harmful effects of sulfur and directly affecting the quality of continuous casting billets and steel.
Before using high carbon Fe Silicon, the main method of deoxidation of steel smelted by steel mills was aluminum iron deoxidation. The advantage of aluminum deoxidation is that the aluminum grains are relatively fine and the deoxidation effect is very obvious, but the disadvantage is that the cost of aluminum iron deoxidation is high, and the aluminum deoxidizer is easy to form Al2O3 inclusions, resulting in water blocking or non-flow phenomenon. Therefore, the use of high carbon Silicon Ferro deoxidation method can not only reduce the deoxidation cost, but also solve the problems of water blocking and non-flow.
