Ferrotitanium Production Method
Production of high-quality ferrotitanium iron includes 4 steps: a. Melt the titanium source in a vacuum or inert gas atmosphere, heat it to above 1690℃ after melting, and obtain titanium. The titanium content of the titanium source is ≥99.5%; b. Melt the iron source in a vacuum or inert gas atmosphere, heat it to above 1650℃ after melting; the sum of the carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, aluminum, vanadium and titanium content in the iron source is <1%; c. Mix the titanium liquid in step a and the iron source melted and heated in step b into a red-hot alloy liquid ladle under vacuum conditions or inert gas atmosphere, and spray argon at the bottom of the ladle. The argon supply intensity is 0.25~1.0m3/(min·t), and the blowing time is 3~15min; get ferrotitanium alloy liquid; d. Cast the ferrotitanium alloy liquid under vacuum conditions or in an inert gas atmosphere, and after the alloy is cooled to 100°C or below, crush and package the ferrotitanium alloy to get ferrotitanium alloy.
At present, domestic ferrotitanium production mainly uses titanium concentrate, titanium slag, etc. as titanium raw materials, and produces ferrotitanium alloy through reduction method. Titanium can increase the wear resistance and tensile strength of steel, and can be used as a deoxidizer and degassing agent. The deoxidation capacity of titanium is much higher than that of silicon and manganese, and it can reduce the segregation of steel ingots, improve the quality of steel ingots, and increase the yield. However, the specific gravity of metallic titanium is low, only 4.5 g/ml, and the melting point is high, which is 1690℃. It is easy to oxidize, and a lot of it is oxidized and burned on the surface of molten steel, which causes too much loss. It is also difficult to control the content, and the process of preparing monomer metal is complicated, the production cost is high, and the price is expensive. Therefore, it is not suitable to be directly added to the molten steel in the state of pure metal and non-metal monomer during steelmaking.
