Advantages of the direct conversion method of ferrotitanium
Directly converting ilmenite into ferrotitanium, the Ti-Fe alloy obtained has a low oxygen content and a low electrolytic reduction temperature. Compared with the existing Ti-Fe alloy preparation method, the present invention shortens the process flow, greatly reduces energy consumption, and obtains a high-quality product.
First, the present invention uses ilmenite as raw material, and has the advantages of wide raw material sources and low production costs, which is an essential improvement compared with traditional iron-adding remelting and vacuum smelting. Secondly, the present invention can directly obtain high-quality Ti-Fe alloy with low oxygen content and high purity. Thirdly, the electrolytic reduction temperature of the present invention is low. The present invention adopts ionic liquid electrolytic reduction temperature below 100°C and high-temperature molten salt electrolysis temperature above 800°C, which is reduced by 700°C, thus saving costs, reducing energy consumption and slowing down corrosion to equipment to a great extent. Fourthly, since ilmenite has poor electrical conductivity, ilmenite is used as raw material for reduction and calcination in a carbon reducing atmosphere, so that the iron in the ilmenite is reduced to a metal phase, the conductivity of the cathode is improved, and the electrochemical deoxidation efficiency in the electrolysis process is improved. The cathode adopts a spherical particle structure, which can further accelerate the reaction speed and improve the deoxidation efficiency.
