A new method for making ferrotitanium
The method of preparing ferrotitanium by carbon-thermal in-situ pre-reduction and ionic liquid electrolytic reduction aims to solve the problems of too high oxygen content in the preparation of ferrotitanium alloy by metal thermal reduction, which cannot meet the needs of users, and the problems of small raw material sources, high energy consumption and high cost in the remelting method.
This method is achieved by the following technical scheme: a method for preparing Ti-Fe alloy by direct reduction of ilmenite, including two steps of carbon-thermal in-situ pre-reduction of ilmenite and ionic liquid electrolytic pre-reduction of ilmenite to prepare ferrotitanium alloy. Using ilmenite as raw material and carbon powder as reducing agent, calcining at 1000-1200°C for 0.5-4h to prepare a pre-reduced ilmenite electrode; using ionic liquid as electrolyte, the pre-reduced ilmenite electrode obtained in the above steps as cathode, graphite or other inert materials as anode, electrolysis is carried out at an electrolysis voltage of 2.8-3.2V and an electrolysis temperature of 25-120°C for 12-48 hours, and then the cathode is taken out, rinsed and dried to obtain Ti-Fe alloy.
