Ferrovanadium (FeV) is an alloy containing vanadium and iron, usually with a vanadium content of between 35 and 85 per cent. It is an important alloying additive in the steel industry and is mainly used to improve the strength, toughness and wear resistance of steel.

1. Iron and Steel Industry: Ferrovanadium is mainly used in the production of high-strength low alloy steels, tool steels, wear-resistant steels, spring steels and high-speed steels. The addition of vanadium can refine the grain of steel and improve the strength, toughness and wear resistance of steel.
2. Vanadium slag treatment: In the smelting process, vanadium slag can be treated by adding ferrovanadium to improve smelting efficiency and product quality.
3. Chemical Industry: Used in the manufacture of some special chemicals and catalysts.

Ferro vanadium is produced by two main methods:
1. Blast Furnace Method: Vanadium and titanium magnetite are mixed with coke and limestone, etc. and smelted at high temperature in a blast furnace to obtain vanadium-iron alloy. The advantage of this method is that the process is simple and the cost is low, but the purity of the product is low.
2. Electric Furnace Method: Vanadium oxides are mixed with iron and reductants (such as aluminium powder or carbon) and subjected to high-temperature reduction reaction in an electric furnace to obtain vanadium ferroalloys of high purity. The advantage of this method is high product purity, but the process is complicated and costly.
