Vanadium Nitrogen Alloy Recommended

Vanadium Nitrogen Alloy Recommended

Vanadium-nitrogen alloy is a new alloying additive that can replace ferrovanadium in the production of microalloyed steel. The addition of vanadium nitride to steel can improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of steel such as strength, toughness, ductility and thermal fatigue resistance, and make the steel have good weldability. Under the same strength, adding vanadium nitride saves 30-40% of vanadium added, thereby reducing the cost.

Description

Vanadium-nitrogen alloys are alloys containing vanadium (V) and nitrogen (N), which are mainly used in the iron and steel industry as an efficient alloying additive.

vanadium nitrogen alloy compositions and production

- Main components: Vanadium (V), nitrogen (N) and possibly small amounts of other elements such as iron (Fe).
- Production Process: Nitrogen is usually introduced into vanadium by nitriding to form vanadium nitrides. Production methods include the reaction of vanadium with nitrogen at elevated temperatures by processes such as gas nitriding and solid nitriding to form vanadium-nitrogen alloys.

vanadium nitrogen alloy features

- Refine grain: Vanadium and nitrogen in vanadium-nitrogen alloy can refine the grain organisation of steel and improve the mechanical properties of steel.
- Improve strength and toughness: Vanadium and nitrogen alloys can significantly improve the strength of steel, while maintaining good toughness, so that the steel in the balance between high strength and high toughness.
- Excellent Wear Resistance: Due to the presence of nitrogen, vanadium-nitrogen alloys reduce the risk of intergranular corrosion whilst enhancing the wear resistance of the steel.
- Stability: Vanadium-nitrogen alloys have good thermal stability and are stable in high temperature environments and less prone to embrittlement.

vanadium nitrogen alloy applications

- Steel industry: Vanadium and nitrogen alloys are mainly used in the manufacture of high-strength low alloy steel (HSLA), which can improve the strength, toughness and wear resistance of steel, and are widely used in the fields of construction, bridges and automobile manufacturing.
- High Speed Steel: Vanadium and nitrogen alloys are used in the production of high speed steel to improve its wear resistance and fatigue resistance.
- Tool and Wear Resistant Steels: In the production of tool and wear resistant steels, Vanadium-Nitrogen alloys can be used to improve the hardness and wear resistance of the steel, extending the service life of tools and mechanical components.
- Pipes and Plates: Vanadium-nitrogen alloys are used to improve the strength and high temperature resistance of materials in equipment such as oil and gas transmission pipelines and high pressure boilers.

Vanadium and nitrogen alloys have become an important alloy additive in the steel industry because of their ability to significantly improve the mechanical properties and wear resistance of steel. Its use can reduce the amount of other alloying elements added, while maintaining or improving the comprehensive performance of steel, with high economic benefits and practical value.
