What is the purpose of carbon electrodes?
Carbon electrodes are conductive materials made of anthracite and metallurgical coke as the main raw materials (sometimes with a small amount of natural graphite or graphitized scraps). The specific resistance of Carbon Graphite Electrode is 2 to 3 times higher than that of graphitized electrodes, and their compressive strength at room temperature is greater than that of graphitized electrodes. Due to the use of anthracite and metallurgical coke as the main raw materials, the ash content of carbon electrodes is generally 6-10%.
Carbon Paste Electrodes are suitable for smelting some ordinary electrical steel and ferroalloys in medium and small electric furnaces and ferroalloy furnaces. Due to the high ash content of Carbon Rod Electrodes, they are not suitable for smelting high-grade alloy steel. The raw materials of Carbon Graphite Rods are easy to obtain, and graphitization is not required during production.
The product cost is much lower than that of graphitized electrodes, and the products can be processed after roasting. The machining process includes the threading joint holes on the finished surface and the end of the joint, as well as the joint for connecting two products. To better connect the two electrodes, several kilograms of carbon paste made of graphite powder, chemical solution, and water need to be applied to the joint holes for each ton of finished products.
