Which is better, nickel-chromium alloy or tungsten alloy?
The melting point of tungsten is much higher than that of nichrome (MP = 1400 C for nichrome and MP = 3422 C for tungsten). For a typical light bulb, the tungsten filament operates at about 2500 degrees Celsius. Arguably, this is actually higher than the melting point of nichrome.
