Zirconium wire absorbs gas when heated
Zirconium wire can absorb a large amount of oxygen, hydrogen, ammonia and other gases when heated. In electron tubes, zirconium powder is used as a degassing agent, and zirconium wire and zirconium sheets are used as ideal getters for gate brackets, anode brackets, etc. When powdered iron is mixed with zirconium nitrate, a sparkling powder is produced.
Most of them are used as outer packaging for uranium fuel components in nuclear reactors. It can also withstand photographic flash lamps and corrosion-resistant containers and piping, especially hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid. Zirconium chemicals can act as cross-linking agents for polymers.
From an industrial point of view, as long as one thousandth of zirconium is added to steel, the hardness and strength will be astonishingly high. Zirconium-containing armor steel, cannon forged steel, stainless steel and heat-resistant steel are important materials for manufacturing armored vehicles, tanks, cannons and weapons.
