Graphite Petroleum Coke (GPC) is a type of petroleum coke that has been treated by high temperature graphitization. Graphitising means treating petroleum coke at very high temperatures (usually between 2500°C and 3000°C) to rearrange the carbon atoms within it into a graphite crystal structure. After graphitising, the degree of graphitization of petroleum coke is substantially increased, resulting in higher electrical, thermal and lubricating properties.

1. High graphitised: after high temperature treatment, graphite petroleum coke has carbon atoms rearranged in the microstructure into graphite crystal structure, which has similar properties to natural graphite.
2. High Carbon Content: compared with calcined petroleum coke, graphite petroleum coke has higher carbon content, usually reaching over 99%.
3. Good electrical and thermal conductivity: Due to its graphite structure, graphite petroleum coke has excellent electrical and thermal conductivity and is widely used in demanding industrial fields.
4. Low impurity content: graphite petroleum coke has been processed at high temperature with extremely low impurity content (such as sulfur, nitrogen, etc.), which makes it especially suitable for use in applications requiring high material purity.
5. Excellent lubricity: Due to the lamellar nature of graphite structure, graphite petroleum coke has good lubricity in some applications.

1. Metallurgical Industry: graphite petroleum coke is used as a high-quality carbon additive in steelmaking, which helps to improve the purity and mechanical properties of steel products.
2. Carbon products: It is used in the manufacture of high-purity graphite products, such as graphite electrodes, graphite blocks, graphite crucibles and so on.
3. Aluminium electrolysis industry: Graphite petroleum coke is used in the production of anodes and cathodes and is particularly suited to the high conductivity requirements of the aluminium electrolysis industry.
4. Battery industry: Due to the good conductivity of graphite petroleum coke, it is widely used in anode materials for lithium-ion batteries.
5. Lubricants and anti-wear materials: Graphite petroleum coke is used as a lubricant to reduce friction and wear in certain industries.
