They are used in the production of steels and alloys. The alloy impart distinctive qualities to steel and cast iron or serve important functions during production and are, therefore, closely associated with the iron and steel industry, the leading consumer of ferroalloys. Silicon metal
is used in the primary and secondary aluminum industry to improve the strength of Aluminum; which makes it strongly linked to the automobile industry.
Due to its non harmful properties, Silicon is also used as the base product in silicon pastes, lubricants, greases and resins, antifoam agents, fabric softeners and everyday consumer products such as skin and hair care products.
