Silicon nitride (Si3N4) is an important structural ceramic material. It is a gray, white or off-white powder. The density of silicon nitride ceramics is relatively low, only 41% of that of steel bearings, but the specific value varies depending on the preparation method and conditions. Silicon nitride has no melting point and usually decomposes at around 1900℃ under normal pressure. The melting point can reach 1900℃ under pressure. Silicon nitride has good chemical stability. Except for hydrofluoric acid, it does not react with other inorganic acids. At the same time, it can resist corrosion from a variety of organic acids and caustic soda solutions below 30%.
