Furthermore, silicon iron powder can be used as a suspension phase in the ore dressing industry and as a coating for welding rods in the welding rod manufacturing industry. High-silicon silicon iron can be used to prepare semiconductor pure silicon in the electrical industry and is utilized in the chemical industry to produce silicones and other products.
In the steelmaking industry, approximately 3-5 kg of 75% silicon iron is consumed for every ton of steel produced.

Silicon iron contains trace amounts of metallic compounds with phosphorus, such as calcium phosphide. During transportation by vehicles or ships or when stored in warehouses, if it gets damp, it can release phosphine, which can cause poisoning in the warehouse or among nearby people. Phosphine poisoning can be fatal if severe.
