Ferrotitanium is an iron alloy, an alloy of iron and titanium that contains 10-20% iron, 45-75% titanium, and sometimes a small amount of carbon. Used as a steel cleaning agent in steelmaking; titanium is highly reactive with sulfur, carbon, oxygen and nitrogen, forming insoluble compounds and sequestering them in the slag, so it is used in steelmaking for deoxidation and sometimes desulfurization and denitrification.
