Products Description
Ferro Vanadium is a ferroalloy composed of vanadium and iron. It is mainly used as an alloy additive in steelmaking. High-vanadium ferrovanadium is also used as an additive for non-ferrous alloys.
The iron and titanium master alloy (iron-vanadium binary alloy) obtained by reduction has a vanadium content of not less than 35.0% (weight) and not more than 85.0% (weight).
As a member of the vanadium family element in the periodic table of elements, vanadium has a melting point of 1887 degrees and a boiling point of 3337 degrees. Pure vanadium is shiny white, hard in texture, and has a body-centered three-dimensional structure.
About 80% of vanadium is used together with iron as an alloying element in steel. Steels containing vanadium are very hard and strong, but generally contain less than 1% vanadium.

Products parameters
Commonly used ferrovanadium contains 40%, 60% and 80% vanadium. The main raw material for China's ferrovanadium production is vanadium-titanium magnetite. After beneficiation and enrichment, vanadium-containing pig iron is smelted through a blast furnace, and vanadium slag is extracted during the atomizing furnace or converter blowing process. After the vanadium slag is crushed, sodium salt (soda ash, table salt or anhydrous Glauber's salt) is added for sodium oxidation roasting to turn the vanadium into soluble sodium metavanadate (NaVO3). After leaching and purification, ammonium sulfate is added to precipitate polyvanadate. Ammonium [(NH4)2V6O16] is then melted by deamination and cast into flake-shaped vanadium pentoxide. The required ingredients are V2O597~99%, P<0.05%, S<0.05%, Na2O+K2O<1.5%. In addition, vanadium pentoxide is also extracted directly from vanadium-containing iron concentrate or vanadium-containing carbonaceous shale through chemical treatment.

use of Products
Ferrovanadium is mainly used as an alloy additive in steelmaking. After adding ferrovanadium to steel, the hardness, strength, wear resistance and ductility of the steel can be significantly improved, and the cutting performance of the steel can be improved. Ferrovanadium is commonly used in the production of carbon steel, low-alloy strength steel, high-alloy steel, tool steel and cast iron.
Metal vanadium is mainly used in non-ferrous alloys to produce vanadium-titanium alloys, such as Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-6Al-6V-2Sn and Ti-8Al-1V-Mo. Ti-6Al-4V alloy is an excellent high-temperature structural material used to manufacture aircraft and rockets. It is highly valued in the United States, and its output accounts for more than half of titanium-based vanadium alloys. Metal vanadium can also be used in magnetic materials, cast iron, cemented carbide, superconducting materials and nuclear reactor materials.
