The Grade Of Ferro Vanadium 40

Ferovanadium is an iron alloy composed of vanadium and iron, primarily used as an alloying additive in steelmaking. High-vanadium ferrovanadium is also used as an additive for non-ferrous alloys. Commonly used ferrovanadium contains 40%, 60%, and 80% vanadium.

Description
the function of ferro vanadium

Ferrovanadium is an important alloy additive in the steel industry. Vanadium improves the strength, toughness, ductility, and heat resistance of steel. Since the sixties, the use of vanadium in the steel industry has increased dramatically, and by 1988 it had accounted for 85% of vanadium consumption. The proportion of vanadium consumption in steel is 20% carbon steel, 25% high-strength low-alloy steel, 20% alloy steel, and 15% tool steel. Vanadium-containing high-strength low-alloy steel (HSLA) is widely used in the production and construction of oil/gas pipelines, buildings, bridges, rails, pressure vessels, carriage frames, etc. due to its high strength. At present, the application range of various vanadium-containing steels is becoming more and more extensive, and relevant talents are becoming more and more important.

Vanadium metal is mainly used in non-ferrous alloys to produce vanadium titanium alloys, such as Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-6Al-6V-2Sn and Ti-8Al-1V-Mo, etc. Ti-6Al-4V alloy is an excellent high-temperature structural material used in the manufacture of aircraft and rockets, and is highly valued in the United States, accounting for more than half of the output of titanium-based vanadium alloys. Vanadium metal can also be used in magnetic materials, cast iron, cemented carbide, superconducting materials and nuclear reactor materials.

the properties of ferro vanadium

There are three commonly used ferrovanadium containing 40%, 60% and 80% vanadium. The main raw material for ferrovanadium production in China is vanadium titanomagnetite, which is enriched by beneficiation and then smelted into vanadium-containing pig iron through a blast furnace, and vanadium slag is extracted in the process of atomization furnace or converter blowing. After crushing, the vanadium slag is mixed with sodium salt (soda ash, salt or anhydrous miscanthus nitrate) for sodium oxide roasting to make vanadium soluble sodium metavanadate (NaVO3), and after leaching and purification, ammonium sulfate is added to precipitate ammonium polyvanadate [(NH4)2V6O16], which is then melted by deamination and cast into flake vanadium pentoxide. The required components are V2O597~99%, P<0.05%, S<0.05%, Na2O+K2O<1.5%. In addition, vanadium pentoxide is chemically extracted directly from vanadium-bearing iron concentrates or vanadium-bearing carbonaceous shales.
