Ferro Titanium was discovered by W. Gregor in 1791, but was not named until M. H. Klaproth's discovery in 1795, when it was named "Titans". In 1901, A. Rossi proposed A patent for smelting ferrotitanium by electric thermit, and in 1937 the Soviet Union studied the process of smelting ferrotitanium by thermit. Since the mid-1950s, due to the increase of scrap titanium metal material, the production of 70%Ti ferrotitanium began. China began industrial scale production of ferrotitanium by thermit in 1959 at the Jinzhou Ferroalloy Plant.
Titanium has an atomic weight of 47.90. The outer electronic structure is 3d4s. Melting point 1667℃. Boiling point 3285℃. Density (20℃)4.5g/cm3. The chemical properties of ferro titanium are more active, and can form stable compounds with oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur and carbon.
