HP Graphite Electrode Overview
HP graphite electrodes are the conductive components for steelmaking in electric arc furnaces. They are produced through a series of strict production processes using petroleum coke, needle coke, and coal tar pitch as raw materials. High-current lines are inserted through the graphite electrode ports in the furnace body, releasing electrical energy in the electric arc furnace to heat the furnace.
As the size of electric arc furnaces increases, the demand for larger-diameter electrodes continues to grow. In recent years, HP graphite electrodes with diameters of 500mm or 600mm have become increasingly popular.
